EDS
EDGE Travel Management System
EDGE is a web services based system that connects the eTravel travel management system to GetThere's
online booking engine (OBE) via a single sign-on (SSO) process with deep-linking capability into the OBE web pages
with seemless returns to the eTravel site upon completion of a booking. EGDE also has PNR modification
capability for Sabre, Worldspan, Apollo and Galileo GDSes via integration with PASS XX/1, a third-party XML
based multi-GDS PNR transaction Server. BITS personnel were responsible for implementing the GetThere OBE
SSO as well as the PASS XX/1 integration. The system is written in C#/.NET/SQL Server 2005.
NMCI Survey
In 2000 EDS won a multi-billion dollar, multi-year contract to provide IT equipment, support and services
to the Navy and Marine Corp. The NMCI Survey is used to determine the level of customer satisfaction that
the Navy and Marine Corp are experiencing with EDS. The survey is the crucial component in assessing the
amount of contract incentive awards – worth several hundred million annually - that EDS will receive from
the Navy. The application is web based on an IIS/ASP platform with a SQL Server 2000 database.
BITS provided the key database developers who designed the database and wrote the scripts for configuring
DTS packages and batch jobs. Wrote stored procedures in T-SQL to optimize performance and implement survey-
sampling algorithms. BITS also wrote the reporting subsystem in a classic ASP 3.0/ISS 5. Charting is
rendered using Intrchart, which provides greater functionality and flexibility than Microsoft's Office Web
Components (OWC) charting facility.
Housing Opportunities Commission (HOC) of Montgomery County, MD
PHA Waitlist
PHA Waitlist is a web-based application that facilitates the in-take of candidates for subsidized housing
in Montgomery County, MD. The application is written in VB.NET ASP.NET 2.0 with a SQL Server 2000 back-end.
BITS migrated the application from a hosting site to internal servers and extended its capabilities.
Extensive code re-factoring was performed enable the migration and enhancements. Extensive code re-factoring

Northrop Grumman
Defense Travel System (DTS)
DTS seamlessly automates the three DoD travel processes: authorization, reservation and voucher filing.
Using DTS, travelers are able to generate travel authorizations, make trip reservations, and route
travel requests for approval, all from their desktop workstation. The system is paperless, uses DoD
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates for digital signatures as required, and is totally web-based.
BITS Automation Specialists wrote numerous scripts in Test Script Language (TSL) as well as various multi-
purpose, reusable TSL functions to automate test scenarios for DTS. Scripts communicate with the SQL Server
DB via ODBC to obtain parameter and data values to drive the scripts.
BITS built a C# .Net client utility to exchange XML files with the server via Web Services as well as an
HTTPS-to-Java-servlet interface. BITS also built numerous client modules in C# .Net and VB.Net as part of
the Automation Manager (look and feel of SQL Server Enterprise Manager) to implement capabilities of the
Test Automation Framework. The back-end DB is SQL Server 2000 and communication is via ADO .Net.
Skills: Xhtml, XML, XSLT, XPath, C# .Net, VB .Net, ADO .Net, HTTPS, TSQL,
Composite Health Care System II (CHCS II)
As the target healthcare system of the Department of Defense (DOD), the Composite HealthCare System (CHCS)
II is often described as a “system of systems.” CHCS II provides a structured framework for accessing and
integrating medical information for patients. CHCS II is the Military Health System (MHS) Computer-based
Patient Record (CPR). It provides the DoD with an enterprise-wide system, governed by universal standards
integrating data from multiple sources, and displaying the data at the point of care.
As part of process improvement, BITS was instrumental in the Test Group’s ability to collect and report on
test execution by participating in the design and development of the ‘Test Team Server’. Collection of test
results was achieved through the automation of existing test procedures (MS Word/VBA), parsing and loading
the results (C# .Net) into a database (SQL Server 2000). A web site (ASP/html/Java Script/Stored procedures)
provided the Reporting capability.
BITS personnel also performed comprehensive gap analysis (Microsoft VBA) of requirements repository and
manual and automated test procedures to ensure test coverage.
Telenet Corporation
- Designed and developed a fault-tolerant resource controller process for a multi-processor Tandem-based electronic mail application. The system is designed to load balance the servers across the available CPUs and to tolerate multiple CPU failures.
- Created a gateway to front-end on-line information services including Telemail, Dow Jones News Retrieval, Official Airline Guide, USA Today, and a host of private databases. Designed, developed, and implemented the database synchronization and maintenance processes. Implemented a switching mechanism between database hosts using X.25 Call Forward On Clear facilities.
National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc (NASD)
Central Registration Depository (CRD)
CRD is the comprehensive database of all broker/dealers and registered representatives trading in the U.S. Performed both maintenance on the legacy CRD system (Tandem/Guardian/TAL/C/ Enscribe) and new development the new Web-CRD system (Sun/UNIX/ C/Oracle/MS VB).
Nasdaq Stock Market
Market Data Server (MDS)
MDS consists of two components: 1) data collection and 2) provisioning. Data collection gathers data from online market systems and stores it in an Oracle database on a UNIX platform.
Market Surveillance Projects
- SWAT –This is a primary Break/Alert detection tool for the Nasdaq Stock Market. It monitors over 6,000 issues for the Nasdaq StockWatch organization.
- STOCKAID – This is third party software developed in “C”. It receives Trades and Quotes for Nasdaq as well as Listed CQS issues that are then processed by SWAT.
- Nasdaq On-line: A Tandem Based application developed in TAL/COBOL that keeps track of the Block trade information for all Nasdaq Issues.
- SWAT/SDR Legacy Application. This is a Web based application Developed in ASP 3.0/ADO 2.5. The database is SQL Server 2000. This application helps Market Watch Analyst to view different Breaks, Alerts (Clusters) and News Transactions for Nasdaq as well as Listed CQS issues.
Fixed Income Pricing System (FIPS)
This project involved building a workstation-based GUI front end to a Tandem-based large bond trading system. Up to 300 workstations consisting of Sun workstations, MACs and PCs were connected to the Tandem via an Ethernet LAN supporting TCP/IP.
GE Fanuc Automation
Web Development
- Monitoring the production, test, and development Web servers
